Head of Global Product Management, P&C

The Head of Global Product Management (GPM) will partner with the VPGM of Paints and Coatings, to lead the global product strategies, including pricing, margin management and validations of asset investment in a manner that improves profitability and enables sustainable growth for Arxada. The GPM runs a distributed team of Product Management professionals who act as the key liaisons between inbound functions (Operations, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Regulatory) and outbound functions (Sales, Commercial, Marketing), for the relevant assets, product platforms, and value chains in all relevant global markets and regions, facilitating information sharing, accountability, and cooperation between all stakeholders. Additionally, the Head of GPM leads all aspects of key critical initiatives for the business including portfolio rationalizations and optimizations, asset consolidation, business justification for capital expansions, asset disposals, insourcing/outsourcing activities, and other value chain & profit improvement projects.
Essential Job Functions:
Margin Management - Proactively coordinates cross-functional cooperation, procurement input, market and competitive intelligence to ensure alignment of pricing, business goals and margin optimizations and set pricing floors based on these factors and segmentation
Partner with Operations to define and develop the plant specific product asset strategy in order to support sustainable business growth and accommodate new product releases, including make vs. buy decisions/strategies
Partners with Marketing for the development of product road maps by analyzing competitor and supplier landscape, pricing and product positioning, cost competitiveness, and partners with marketing for general market intel to drive activities that ensure sustainable growth and increase profitability
Oversee and manage product portfolio analyses, which may lead to product rationalization and facilitates new product late-stage product commercialization processes
Leads and participates in training exercises on customer/ product needs-based segmentation with marketing and sales. Develop pricing strategies based on segmentation to improving overall gross profitability
Work with Supply Chain and Sales to develop ABC customer ranking and business rules aligned with needs-based segmentation
Qualifications & Experience:
Paints and Coatings industry experience is a plus
Bachelor’s Degree science related field
Min. 10+ years in Technical and/or Product management
Ability to lead cross functional teams and strong influencing skills
Strong strategic thinker with exceptional commercial skills in order to take ideas from concept to completion
Solid understanding of needs-based segmentation, competitive cost curves, and pricing to value vs. next best alternative
Strong business sense and financial analysis skills, with strong understanding of P&L and cash implications of strategic options
Adept at navigating and succeeding in a volatile environment
Skilled communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams within the business
Culturally sensitive having had a multifaceted career with global reach
