Sustainability & Low Carbon Transition Advisory is part of the Global Advisory team inside the Investment Banking & Finance Area at BBVA CIB. Global Advisory provides the following investment banking services to CIB clients: Merger & Acquisitions (M&A), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Debt advisory and Sustainability & Low Carbon Transition Advisory.

This service with a global reach is focused on elevating the dialogue with clients around Sustainability, with a particular emphasis on the transition towards a low carbon economy.

About the role
Help in the origination and successful closing of new business opportunities, mainly investment banking, global markets and ESG/Green product solutions, based on deep client segment expertise and strategic dialogue, in coordination with the Sector Heads of the team. Help to originate cross-sell opportunities
Focus on understanding clients’ investment needs and strategic decisions
Elaborate the different presentations and documentation (clients’ pitching)
The day to day of this role will be to prepare client interactions and run presentations in front of clients based on the following services offered to corporate clients, in several sectors:
Cleantech Advisory. Position BBVA as one of the key financiers and advisors in the global clean techs space, bringing expertise to our clients to help them finance the energy transition
ESG Equity Advisory. ESG Advisory as an input for strategic decisions and asset allocation. Opportunity to scale up sustainable solutions to equity (M&A/ECM)
ESG Debt Advisory. Provide ESG Advisory focused on Sustainable Finance (use of proceeds and/or KPI-linked in bond and loan markets)
Sustainable Strategic Dialogue. Provide a holistic ESG Advisory service to help Corporates achieve stronger sustainability standards while providing access to sustainable financing solutions
Energy Transition & Net Zero Advisory. Focus on Climate. Sequenced advisory on decarbonisation and offsetting (NZ)
ESG Ratings Advisory. Provide best-in-class ESG ratings advisory following a comprehensive 5 step process (including exhaustive recommendations to help the company enhance its ratings)
In summary, provide clients specific actions and tailor-made advisory and financing services they can use to accelerate their transition to a sustainable future. The team brings the sustainability expertise of the bank in the dialogue with clients.
Requirements and Languages
Bachelor degree.
2-5 years of professional experience in Cleantech and/or ESG for the financial sector (incl. M&A, project finance, asset management), Sustainability in Strategy Consulting firms, Sustainability department in corporates, M&A, Due Diligence and Corporate Finance, or niche consultancy firms with a strong focus on low carbon transition.
English level: C1, fluency in Spanish preferred.
Other skills required:
Strong written and verbal communication.
Proven analytical skills and strategic thinking.
Ability to co-ordinate people from different teams involving different areas on a deal by deal basis.
Results/business orientation. Proactivity to get things done.
Experience in Cleantech (from green H2 to BESS or CCUS).
Solid understanding of ESG business drivers and KPIs.
Solid understanding of ESG trends, concepts, regulation, ratings, taxonomies, reporting initiatives, ...
Understanding of ESG Ratings methodologies.
Solid understanding of sustainable finance products, bonds, loans, sustainable finance frameworks,...
Prior experience in an ESG Research department with a strong sector focus (from sell or buy side), a Corporate Sustainability department or consulting firm with an ESG focus is an advantage.
Corporate or M&A experience will be an advantage.
Experience providing ESG advice to pension funds, private equity firms, infrastructure funds and development finance institutions will also be an advantage.
