Procurement Manager - Metals & Catalyst

The Jobholder in his role independently manages Distribution Concepts, Tolling and Contract Manufacturing needs and individual chemical raw materials. Drives the segment strategy, sources and manages suppliers and service providers on a regional level, closely and pro-actively interacts with the businesses to leads projects, drives make-or-buy decisions, and actively participates in the performance management of the category. Exploiting the supply bases innovation capability through a systematic supplier development management process to source new products supporting the growth strategy of the businesses.
Responsibilities
Source raw materials and scout new suppliers and technologies in the area of responsibility, negotiate and conclude deals in accordance with delegated responsibility
Design, maintain and implement sourcing strategies for designated product groups and geographies, develop relationships with suppliers as per strategic requirements
Design and lead optimization projects to generate value for the organization, identify & execute improvement potentials, challenge status quo, de-specification, etc. to realize Clariant objectives
Monitor and analyze the market development and supply availability; forecast prices of strategic spend segments
Allign with supplier base and execute projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and drive other sustainability initiatives in connection with Clariant strategy and policies
Build and cultivate cross functional strategic stakeholder relationships to create value for the organization, build and deepen business acumen.
Creates and maintains contracts, master data etc. in SAP.
Develops, implements and maintains own sourcing strategies within the category or ensures strategy governance.
Conducts market research and proactively finds new suppliers and alternative sourcing concepts.
Monitors and analizes market development and supply availability. Forecasts prices of strategic spend segments.
Support the direct procurement category globally.
Requirements
Education related business and procurement. Masters degree in Business administration, Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering
Strong track record in Procurement and Project Management, experience in other areas is an advantage
Technical experience in direct procurement buying metals and ctalysts (zinc, nickel, alumina, palladium, etc)
Demonstrated capability in contract negotiation and long-term relationship building (internal and external)
Excellent English and communication skills for globally interactions, German language is of an advantage
Experience in different cultural environments or fields of business or comparable level of exposure
